Luton 5 & MK 10K

Last Friday Fiona Towell was Leighton's sole representative in the John O'Callaghan 5 mile race in Luton. Her trip over there was definitely worthwhile though as she continued her run of improving form this year by achieving a new PB over the distance. Fi was delighted to clock 43.27 which was 20 seconds quicker than she has ever run before. She then managed to follow that up with the final glory leg for the victorious ladies team in the Greensand Ridge Relay, so all in all a good weekend.

Tuesday night saw the annual running of the Milton Keynes 10K from the open university and three LBAC runners took on the course on a very humid night in the new city. First home was Chris Norman who was slightly disappointed with his 40.50, but generally times were slow across the board, probably down to the sticky conditions. Next home was Fred Watt, who's time of 43.34 was his best of the year and earned him 2nd V60. The third finisher was Richard Inchley, who had a lot of local knowledge, but also suffered in the heat as he just missed his 50 minute target by 20 seconds. They were all just using it as a sharpener for Friday's club championships though really!!
