Beginners Tackle Tough Parkrun

by Kate Johnson

Our Tuesday sessions for beginner & improver runners are proving popular, so we decided it was time to test their progress!

We took a trip to Rushmere parkrun, which for those of your who have done this course, it’s a tough one! It’s both undulating and on trails and the weather had left it in a decidely soggy state, so was a real test for our newbies.

5 of our runners met the challenge: Lucie, Susan, Kathleen, Modupe and our newest runner April, who has only been running for 2 weeks.

Lucie made it home in 32:35 which was a new PB for the Rushmere Course, Modupe and Kathleen were neck and neck from the start line right to the finish, with Modupe just having the edge on that morning, finishing in 37:09, a new PB for her. Kathleen was right behind, recording 37:21 for her first time on the course. April and Susan were not too far behind with 45:09 and 45:10 which sees them both setting times for the course that I am sure they can beat if they have another go especially in some better running conditions!

A huge well done to all!
