Leighton 10 2018 – Not a washout!

After last year’s large field and “miserable” conditions, this year was even bigger and even more miserable! With a summer of sun a distant memory and a week preceding the Leighton 10 of dry weather it was almost inevitable that Sunday 23 September would be wetter than an otter’s pocket.

The roads were emulating streams as the volunteers arrived to put out the mile markers and set up the drinks stations, but with the runners arriving too, their enthusiasm was not washed away. read more

One of the biggest fields of runners for a few years turned up on Sunday 17 September for the 36th Leighton 10. With fairly miserable but good conditions for running, the pre-run set up and sign-up for the organisers and runners was spent huddling in the sports hall as much as possible.

A fine drizzle greeted those on the start line and after a few announcements and a quick round of Happy Birthday to one lucky runner who had the Leighton 10 as a present for his 70th birthday, the race got underway. read more

    The 35th Leighton 10

    Another successful Leighton 10!

    Sunday 18th September 2016

    After months of planning and organising, Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club held the 35th Leighton 10 road race on Sunday 18th September. As in previous years, the runners were treated with near perfect conditions for a 10 mile race with almost no wind and cool and dry weather

    As well as all the 241 happy, smiley runners and the clapping, cheering marshals LBAC would like to thank in particular Methi, Mama Rosa’s and Waitrose for providing local runner and team prizes, Tesco’s for the post-race bananas, Chevron for the finish cones Elevations for the PA System, Vandyke school for the use of their hall and carpark as Race HQ and Benedicts for the much-needed catering at the end of the race. read more

    Leighton 10: A Winner Yet Again

    The 34th Leighton 10 took place on Sunday 20th September with the 282 runners greeted with perfect weather, with the early morning mist and fog clearing to create some fine and cool conditions as they took to the start line.

    Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club organise the event and this year had the largest number of finishers on the new route. The challenging, but rewarding course starts in Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire and follows the roads out into Heath and Reach, moves into Buckinghamshire and passes through Great Brickhill before returning back to Leighton Buzzard via Heath and Reach. read more
