Social Events 2017

At LBAC, every Wednesday night is a social event. After training, a number of the club get showered and head off to The Swan in the town centre. It is a Wetherspoons pub so not glamorous but the food and drink are cheap and clearly we are all wonderful company so please remember that all members are welcome to come along for a post run beverage.

Additionally there are a number of regular events held each year so make sure you have them in your diary:

London Marathon – Sunday 22nd April

We should have double figures in terms of participants from the club and will undoubtedly know lots of others taking part. It’s a good fun day out that always includes a few shandies after the race. More details will be available nearer the time but make sure you have it in your diary.

Annual Dinner & Senior Presentation Evening – Friday 27th  April, Leighton Buzzard Golf Club

The main opportunity of the club’s year to get your glad rags on. A sit down dinner with some awards interspersed. The more that come along the more fun it is so make sure you’ve got the evening booked in. There are awards for road running and cross-country as well as some other slightly more random ones, but really it’s just about having a few drinks, a little bit of banter and enjoying the evening.

You can sign up for the dinner here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H79CKP2

Tring Invitation Evening – A Wednesday in May, Tring Park Cricket Club – Date TBC

Once a year, Tring Running Club host a popular invitation night offering a variety of routes in the Hertfordshire countryside to suit all abilities. This is a friendly, relaxed event and a good excuse to run in new surroundings. All local running clubs are invited and most people hang around afterwards for food and a few drinks.

Family Track & Field Day – 8th July, Stantonbury Track (Milton Keynes)

Since 2012, we have held a family track and field fun day at Stantonbury track in MK. Participants are split into teams and compete against each other in a selection of events throughout the day. It’s really good family fun, so get practicing your jumping and throwing!!

This will include the second running of the track 1 mile championship!

Quiz Night & Junior Presentation Evening – Date TBC

Thanks to Joe for the quiz, the coaches for all their time in planning and the huge level of support we had from the club.

Lanzarote Trip – Thursday 23rd November (7, 10 or 11 days!)

The Club la Santa trip is now in it’s 28th year and over 150 different people have come along as part of our group over this period, with very few only having been once! It’s first and foremost a holiday with winter sunshine, but if you fancy doing the International Challenge then why not give that a go too! It’s a very popular event so we do have to book up in the Spring. Richard Inchley is now taking bookings and answering inquiries from anyone that is contemplating it.

Christmas Dinner – Wednesday 19th December, Methi Indian Restaurant

For the last few years we have abandoned the training run just before Christmas and gone for curry. There is a strong chance the same will occur this year. Make sure you know your “Ten lords a leaping” from your “Twelve drummers drumming”!
