County Championships NEW DATE

The Beds & Bucks county cross-country championships which were postponed at the start of the month due to the snow, have been reorganised and the new date is set for Saturday 20th February at Stopsley leisure centre in Luton. The first race will start at 11am, but the final running order has yet to be confirmed so please keep you eye on this site and the Beds AAA site for further details. Clearly we hope to get the strongest possible team out so try your best to free up the diary. If anyone is available to help out with course set-up or marshalling the county association would be extremely grateful. Please get in touch with Richard (rinchley@hotmail.com) if you are prepared to offer your services. read more

Solid Turn-out Encourages Promotion Chances

LBAC extended their lead at the top of division 2 of the Chiltern Cross Country League after the senior men had their best turn-out of the year, and had some excellent support from a small but vital group of juniors and ladies. With one fixture to go there are a number of individual and team medals available to various members of the club.

As always the junior races took place first with Jamie Stancombe leading the way as our only representative in the U11 races and he came home in 45th place in the combined division results. Our U13 boys continue to lead the way at the top of the table after another solid performance with Joe McGarry coming home in 8th place and leading Jordan Clay, Jake Irvine and Luke Pratt, making his debut, to 4th place team on the day. In total however, they still lead overall on 188 points, but both Wycombe and Chiltern are within 5 points, so it is crucial that they have the strongest possible team out on the 13th February to retain their lead. read more

Alternative Training

In this weather that has not been ideal for standard training methods, people have looked to various alternatives. There has been talk of the gym, swimming, ten-pin bowling and even special work done on the right bicep in various public houses. However, Nick has gone to a whole new level! With his military history he probably has a rifle strapped about his person somewhere so that he can head off to Vancouver for the Olympic Biathlon!
