Joe Completes Luton Marathon

Joe Hurley completed yet another marathon on Sunday around the streets of Luton. In breezy conditions Joe completed the course in three hours and thirty six minutes. This is some way outside his best times for the distance, but with various nagging injuries he hasn't managed to get in the long runs he was hoping for over the last couple of months and found the last few miles a real struggle. Nevertheless, it's another one for him to tick off his list and most people would be delighted with the time he achieved. Well done Joe. read more

Leighton Buzzard AC had four members of the junior squad selected to represent Bedfordshire in this event, with three of them able to run on the day. Brian Foulger got the running under way in the U15 boys and finished in a respectable time over the tough 4K course and helped Bedfordshire to gain 7th place in a very strong field.

Joe McGarry and Jordan Clay were both selected for the U13 boys team and were the 3rd and 4th scoring finishers respectively, which helped Bedfordshire to 10th team overall. Their race, over a tough undulating 3K course was the hardest race they have done in their brief running history. Interestingly, the reserve list for this age group also featured two further LBAC athletes, indicating a developing strength in depth building in the squad. read more

Following Simon home was club president Gail Duckworth, who's time of 31.16 gave her the award for 1st V50 by a very comfortable distance. However, we also understand that Gail's time now ranks her as the number one V50 in the country over the distance. This is a fantastic achievment Gail and so congratulations from everyone at the club. read more

Whilst the UK was coping with floods across the country, this small group of athletes were enjoying the hospitality of all the Club La Santa has to offer.
