London Marathon Places

As some of you will know, since the dawn of time the club has been allocated two places each year in the London Marathon. These have been given to club members on a fairly specific basis of criteria. However, it was based on members being rejected from the ballot, but with the advent of online entries the ballot is often closed before some members have had the chance to enter so the criteria for 2011 and onwards has been changed;

1. You must have been a member of LBAC before the marathon of the previous year. Ie. Anyone wanting a 2011 place must have been a member since last April at least.

2. You must have attempted to enter the ballot (We'll have to trust you honesty on this!)

3. You must make your desire to enter the draw at least one week prior to the club dinner (End of April / Early May). This is a year in advance!

4. The draw for the two places and four reserves will be made a the dinner.

5. Those lucky winners will pass their entries on to the reserve if illness or injury prevents them from competing. Those injured will then be eligible for the draw the following year. If the injury occurs after the closing date for name changes (2nd week in February) then that individual will be expected to communicate with the London marathon directly and secure their place for the following year on injury grounds.

6. You are not eligible to enter the draw if you have a "Good for age" time from the previous two years.

This years draw for the two places will take place on Wednesday 10th November in The Globe after training and will use this criteria (apart from the date!). Please let Nick Clay (nickjclay@aol.com) know a.s.a.p. if you wish to be included in the draw.
