Stag Trophy – Race 2

A mild November evening saw the second race of the winter Stag Trophy season starting from Parsons Close. Twenty-four people turned up for the race as well as a couple of hangers-on and those that did were rewarded by a tail wind down Grovebury Road that lead to 11 out of the first 12 people all recording personal bests.

First home on the night, and beating last months time by 47 seconds was the fast improving Steve Orlando. His 25 points gained on the night, combined with the 21 from october have give him an early lead in one of the club's most presitigous events. Nearly all the way he was accompanied by Lynne Grimshaw who will undoubtedly be looking to duck under 18 minutes in December to continue her improvement.

Having missed last months race due to illness, defending champion Stuart Blofeld stormed round the course to record yet another PB of 14.05 and will be aiming to join the sub 14 club when we meet again on December 1st. However, he still insists that he can't run fast! Chasing Stuart home to record his second 4th place of the season and record the season's fastest time in just his second attempt at the event was Ian Grimshaw with a tremendous 13.48. It was still not enough to catch his wife though. It does however, put him in second place overall, two points behind Steve.

Last months winner Theresa Keefe ran another PB this month, but was caught by 11 people in the last few hundred metres to come home in 12th. A solid 14 points though, does keep her in 3rd overall at this very early stage of the season. The other PB's were acheived by Tim Bacon, Billy Mead, Brian Foulger, Jordan Clay, Charlie Mead and Warren Rose. The question now is really who can continue to improve through the cold dark winter months as that is the way to win it.

The latest results and lists of PB's, rules and tactical advice is all available via the Stag Trophy page.
