Leighton 10 2018- No Rain, No Gain

Leighton 10 2018 – Not a washout!

After last year’s large field and “miserable” conditions, this year was even bigger and even more miserable! With a summer of sun a distant memory and a week preceding the Leighton 10 of dry weather it was almost inevitable that Sunday 23 September would be wetter than an otter’s pocket.

The roads were emulating streams as the volunteers arrived to put out the mile markers and set up the drinks stations, but with the runners arriving too, their enthusiasm was not washed away. read more

5k Road Club Champs

5k Club Champs – Aylesbury parkrun

Another sunny morning greeted the  LBAC runners as they commuted to Aylesbury for the 5k Road Club championship race. As has been custom the last few years, the 5k race has taken place at a local parkrun and this year Aylesbury was the location of choice.

Purple and Gold vests packed the starting line with 28 runners turning out in the Meadowcroft area of Aylesbury.

As is custom with parkruns, the start was a fast one with runners haring off between the trees. The route itself follows the River Thame and is fairly flat and fast, but with a few tricky corners and slight inclines it can also sap your energy somewhat. read more

Bearbrook 10k – Club Champs Race

Bearbrook 10k

Sunday 6th August was the date of the Bearbrook 10k, which this year was the LBAC Club Championship race for that distance.

Over the years there have been all sorts of weather with a particularly memorable time a few years ago when Hurricane Bertha came to visit.

This year however, the conditions were much calmer and pretty good for a run up a hill and down again although it was getting a little warm out there towards the end.

There was a big turn out of 21 members from the club racing, but the victorious two were Andy Inchley who is edging ever close to a sub 35 minute 10k again with a time of 35:07 and Vice Captain Jo Sharples, who finished in 43:19 before then running the 14miles back to Leighton Buzzard as part of her marathon training! Andy also picked up second place in the v40 category. read more

Run Britain Rankings & Power of 10

I thought I’d do a short piece about something that a few of us are a little obsessive on and some are completely oblivious to, which are the above two websites.

These two websites are linked together and act as a database for athletics performances for just about any UK based athlete.

Power of 10 was set-up around ten years ago to collate and record performances across all disciplines and act as a permanent record thereof. You can look up anyone you want from Mo Farah to your next door neighbour. read more

2015 Results

Provided below is a list of race results where LBAC members have taken part. If you would like us to add any performances please let us know.

There is a website called Power of 10 which records all performances in races which have a UK Athletics permit. You can add in any past performances for which the results are online. You can also add in a photo of yourself and a personal profile. It's ideal for keeping all of your races up to date with very little effort!
