Stag Results 2009/10

So, the delayed final Stag trophy race of the season saw Stuart Blofeld confirm his tag as strong pre-race favourite by returning his fifth personal best time in the five races he has completed this year.

On the night, the positions were slightly confusing as there were a number of non-scoring runners in the first few places over the line, due them not having accurate handicaps as new runners, but all will be available to take a full part next year and Billy Mead (15.32) and Jordan Clay (16.09) are only going to get quicker, with so much youth on their side. read more

Silverstone 10K

Over the years, the Silverstone 10K has given us pouring rain, glorious sunshine, howling gales and pretty much everything in between. The course is flat and pretty fast, but if there is a breeze at all the exposed nature of the citcuit means it can be very windy. However, those that made the trip to rural Northamptonshire on the first Tuesday in May this year, found perfect running conditions, with practically no wind and a temperature of about eleven degrees. It is the first race of the East Midlands Grand Prix Series, which are nearly every week between now and the end of June. read more

Mark Completes 31st Ironman

Long before Stuart Blofeld came on the scene with his crazy ultra running antics, LBAC had a member who was just as foolish when it came to entering ridiculous events. Having run a marathon as fast as he believed he was capable, many years ago Mark Kleanthous took up triathlons in the search for a new challenge! He has done double and triple Ironman races but until last month had never done any one of his previous thirty in forty degrees of heat. The link below is to an article written by his long suffering wife Clare, about the crazy event that is the Chinese Ironman. read more

Tring Training Run

Wednesday 19th May will see our annual trip over to Tring for their excellent training run, where all the local clubs are invited. It is always an extremely well organised event that caters for all runners with four groups of varied standards that are very sociable and have lots of regrouping points.

The meeting point is Tring cricket club, opposite Tesco's and the routes are usually very scenic and take in various sections of the Ridgeway. Everyone is welcome, and all are encouraged to stay for a drink and a bite to eat afterwards, with the food laid on by Tring Running Club. There are showers available to all and the meeting time is the same as our own in Leighton. Nick will co-ordinate lifts, but we do need to let them know approximate numbers, so please e-mail him to confirm on nickjclay@aol.com read more

London Results

So, it's all over for another year and the build up starts all over again on the 4th May, when the online entry for 2011 opens, so we have a solitary week of looking back, before we look to next years race.

On what started as a dreary and somewhat damp day in Blackheath, seven LBAC members crossed the finish line of the 30th London Marathon in The Mall around lunchtime. They all finished within 30 minutes of each other, and were pretty much all pleased with their respective results. Form books, training and estimated times all went out of the window as few would have selected the order they came home in. read more
